Reading Blog #3

I found it interesting that Eastern Europe was at the forefront of digital art to begin with. Whenever I think of the internet or tech or anything of that nature, I always think of the United States or Asia as being the pioneers.

I also liked the part about phoning the phone booths in London from around the world. It is a very nice and friendly idea, and I can imagine it being surprising to hear a phone booth ring and finding out it was just someone wanting to say hi. It is an interesting combination of using already in place analog technology with a new and upcoming digital one. It is also interesting how this information was likely available in phone books, but by putting it on the internet made it available to everyone.

I visited jodi.org and it was cool. It was kinda sus and I don’t know why the page kept reloading. Also my anti-virus flagged it a few times and blocked it. The website was not easy to navigate, as I suspect was intended. It was fun to explore but some parts were broken and didn’t work. A few other websites didn’t work, including the Heritage Gold one. I liked the Potatoland shredder by Mark Napier, but couldn’t get the landfill to work.

Overall a lot of the websites didn’t work, although truthfully I didn’t try all of them. A few of them were buggy in ways I don’t think they were meant to be.
